We Run OaklandFor Our Children

With our inaugural charity 5k run/walk in 2018, we began our journey of communal advocacy in an area that largely impacts African American women and girls: Human Trafficking Awareness. As we continue our mission to cultivate Black Excellence through the inspirations of African American women, it is important that we also do the work to ensure our children are healthy and whole. Taking on the role of an advocate in the community, this civic engagement event provides us the opportunity to assist in the efforts of mitigating the perils of human trafficking; which is, unfortunately, impacting the African American community in the Oakland/Bay Area.

The We Run Oakland: For Our Children series is an annual family/community event designed to focus on our collective responsibility to STOP human trafficking. Through the partnerships of local organizations, the main goal is to bridge the gap between community, resources, and self-care.

DO & A Sista's Touch will host our 6th annual charity 5K on Saturday, September 16th to continue our efforts of raising Human Trafficking Awareness. Returning to an in-person event in 2022 was so exciting, the community engagement felt so familiar. We look forward to continuing the momentum, seeing returning participants, and welcome those interested in joining us for the first time. We hope you will be inspired to stay involved and engaged with one of our community partners, and more importantly, learn, that IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
