We Run OaklandFor Our Children

With our inaugural charity 5k run/walk in 2018, we began our journey of communal advocacy in an area that largely impacts African American women and girls: Human Trafficking Awareness. As we continue our mission to cultivate Black Excellence through the inspirations of African American women, it is important that we also do the work to ensure our children are healthy and whole. Taking on the role of advocate in the community, this civic engagement event provides us the opportunity to assist in the efforts of mitigating the perils of human trafficking; which is unfortunately impacting the African American community in the Oakland/Bay Area.

The We Run Oakland: For Our Children series is an annual family/community event designed to focus on our collective responsibility to STOP human trafficking. Through the partnerships of local organizations, the main goal is to bridge the gap between community, resources, and self-care.

On Saturday, August 27, 2022 DO & A Sista's Touch will host our 5th annual charity 5K to continue our efforts of raising Human Trafficking Awareness. This will be our second year with a virtual format, which will offer the same resources and educational tools as our community-partners have offered in the past. For our returning participants and those interested in joining us for the first time, we hope you will be inspired enough to stay involved and engaged  with one of our partners, and more importantly, learn, that IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
